Hello, this might possibly be the dorkiest post to darken this community's door. My 13 year old son has recently become interested in the figures of Mage Knight and subsequently seems very interested in the game. I don't really get this whole thing but I'd like to support him and wonder if there are books or things I could buy him? Any help for this dumb mom would be appreciated. Thanks.

DragonCon 2004 in Atlanta
I am looking to sell all my Mage Knight minis down at the Con. The game is awesome but right now I am playing too many awesome games and cannot afford to keep up with them all. If anyone is interested in purchasing 1 - 50 Limited Edition figures from numerous sets let me know and maybe we can arrange something down at the Con.

Battle Royale 2004!
In a couple of hours a few friends and I are about to start what we'd like to call Battle Royale 2004! Two 900 point armies vs. Three 600 point armies. In between turns, each of us get to control in turns a rogue 600 point Mage Spawn army.( The ArmiesCollapse )( The BoardCollapse )
The board is about 3x5 with a lot of forest and marsh hindering terrain, a river, a bunch of elevated terrain and a few little buildings. Each side has three treasure chests they have to guard and defend. The object is to be the first team to capture 2 treasure chests.
Who do you think will win? Current Mood: anxious

My New favorite 200pt Army
Had an unoffical little tourney with a bunch of friends and my army kicked ass!
Lots of Quickness, Weapons Master and High Rollers. I'm also a new fan of Sneak Attack! Just remember to bring the hindering terrain and with the Nightstalkers' Stealth and ranged attack, you can pick off opponents all day. Chofni supports it all with Healing and Defend, and when he gets in trouble you can break away easily with Flight.

Saw the coolest figure.
It was a robot riding a robitc dragonfly, what is it? I haven't seen a pic of it and it takes a long ass time to search through the whizkids site, so I'm highly curious.
Also, do glow in the dark figures have different stats? Saw a few of those today. O_o
Edit: Nevermind, found out it was Techun on Dragonfly Mount. Current Mood: annoyed

If not I had good luck. Got two packs, got two heroes. :) Current Mood: full
eBay is EVIL!
In the past three days I've spent over $300 on ebay. ALL ON MAGE KNIGHT STUFF!!!
Hello all! I was wondering if anyone out there has played in a tournament and could tell me a bit about how they deal with terrain and army placement for smaller games. My friends and I play huge games, but we need some ideas on how to manage terrain size, turn order, etc. for shorter games. Any thoughts?

Ok, you got me.
Originally I was JUST a Heroclix man. This was the sort of thing I would do with sculpting clay and my spare time when I was a kid, pit super hero against super hero.
However, I saw a large scale Mageknight battle today, which made me rethink my position on it.
I went to a particular bookstore, there was an open booster missing a figure. I got them for .75 each. I saw my first Solonavi (a Channeler). I had previously bought an Unlimited starter and booster and wasn't impressed. I think I am now doomed somewhat. The Solonavi are little pieces of art. :)
I also like the Necro folk, but that's the way it is in every game.
I have yet to play a game of MK but can't wait to do so.
Now to get my MK collection up without spending much money. I'm still more dedicated to Heroclix (especially with the new DC set coming out), but this looks like a great game that I won't feel as compelled to buy craploads of because of character recognition. :) Current Mood: okay

This seems to be a dead community. [pokes community with a stick] Yep, seems dead
Anyways, I just joined a few minutes ago. I've been playing MK and MKD for close to two years now.
I'm playing in a Mage Knight Dungeon tournament today, and if anyone has any comments on this Hero Army, feel free to post them:
Lvl 1 Alsyn Vale - 25
Lvl 1 Lord Oren - 26
Lvl 1 Mage Kind Alment-Lan - 23
Lvl 1 Zenephret - 22
Any improvements, feel free to share. It won third place at the last tournament (would've been second if I had a little bit more gold.)

Kind of a dead community here. Anyway, I just joined a few moments ago. In fact I just bought my Unlimited Starter set a few days ago. Definetly interested in getting more involved in this game however. I was always a big fan of Warhammer and 40k but I didn't have the money or painting talent to play, Mage Knight seems like my inbetween. Affordable and I don't have to paint my units.
Anyway, a question to try and spark this community back to life a bit, what are your perferred modes of play? Dungeons, Conquest, or head to head? Can't really go into mine, I'm as yet still untried.

if anyone could help me out i'd appriciate it muchly.

winning armies of the night...
Ki Devil **
Grave Robber *
Troll Artillerist *
Troll Artillerist *
Mending Priestess **
The artillerists and the priestess remain in formation, while the other units are "free range."
The werebears are pushed once and the turn before engagement fly in the ki devil and shockwave EVERYBODY including the bears who go into full rage right before commencement. The trolls stand back and pick off stragglers and the Grave brings back bears ready to go.
Noble Archer ***
Noble Archer ***
Grave Robber *
Chaos mage in base contact with all the shamen and you obtain the magic enhancement. This 4 to 9 clicks of damage with one shot. Have the skeletons for some good old cannon fodder and one of the royal archers in base contact with two of the shamen to get 3 clicks on two shots.

Got second place in the Mechwarrior marquee today. Both me and the first place winner were using an army consisting of the Ryoken II and a host of infantry. He had 3 swordsworn infantry with 8 inch jumpjets and 4 highlander with 10 inch jumpjets, I had 2 elite clan battle armor and 2 green hovertanks in formation, and a formation of 3 elite standard foot.
First round I got a bye (5 people). Second round I foguht someone who was just dropping in and was fromm Pennsylvania. He was fielding a spider which he'd hoped to use as an anti-tank weapon and 2 tanks which I don't recall. He'd beat the other guy I just talked about who ended up coming in first in the first round. The terrain was densely packed near his side of the board, and the game had just begun when I noticed his build total was 299. All I had to do was keep anything from dying (which wouldn't have been too hard given terrain placement, he was bottled up). He ran a veteran hovertank out early, which I blew to kingdom come, assuring my win. Eventually, it ended with him getting another hovertank in my deployment zone, winning that victory condition, but he had only killed one of my green hovertanks, so I was up on kills by 1 point, and survivor points by 2. Then I captured his spider. I debated whether or not to bypass it, and decided not to. Also decided I won't be using bypass again in a tournement because it's really not worth it points-wise unless you think you'll have a lot of trouble holding onto the mech/vehicle. Still a very fun ability in a friendly game.
Third round saw similar terrain placement. He put a pool right in front of his deployment zone, so I stuck that big piece of blocking terrain that's shaped like an H in front of it. He put a large diamond piece of hindering terrain off to the right, so I stuck an office building in front of it. He moved his ryoken up, then I moved mine so that it was covered by the big piece of blocking terrain. Ryoken has hardened armor, and indirect attacks do a max of 2 damage, so I was safe.
Then it went down hill. He did something stupid, I don't quite understand why. He moved the ryoken between the 'legs' of the H, and so I was able to advance my ryoken with impunity. I decided to make a gambit, I sent my spirit cat formation ahead, planning to jump the battle armors over and either shut it down with flamers or capture it. His ryoken already had some heat and a token, and so I pushed to jump over. He decided to attack, crippling one of the battle armors. He failed his shutdown roll but, alas, I was pushed and couldn't take advantage. The rest of the game was me sending a hovertank into his deployment zone so I'd win SOMETHING and then just screwing around with my ryoken. I ended up pulling it out just in time, getting really far down the heat dial, because I'd realized that if he won this he'd be 2-1, as would I and several other people, so I wanted to preserve my VPs for the tie breaker.
And, amusingly enough, I beat the 3rd place person (who also got a bye) by 6 points, and I'd gotten 8 points from my hovertank in his deployment zone in round 3. :D
I'm happy I got second. I'd rather have the LE mech than the LE vehicle. The winner was also happy, the tank's faction was his favorite.

My winning 200 point army from last night... it worked well for me.
I don't own a huge collection like some of you other folks or anything, but I have a couple of fun orcs...
Tribal Brute- Standard - (Up close muscle/)
Digger- weak - pest (shockwave)
Goblin Grenadier - pest (as above)
Shaman- Weak (damage+ and ranged healing, .. plus the healing stays if pushed for one)
Shaman- Standard (same)
Chaos Mage - (nice range, Magic blast, and push for other goodies if need be)
Launcher- Standard (pierce)
Clutch Piper- Standard (forced march of 10, to keep the guys moving, and tough enough to bring up the rear as a bodyguard.
The pests I'm working on replacing with something... maybe a screeching terror or a banshee. Something cheap that can be a shockwave nuisance.
They managed to hassle a storm golem centered crew pretty well.
